Eheim bioMECH Mechanical-Biological Filter Media 5L (2508761)

Eheim bioMECH is a cleverly designed mechanical-biological filter medium for combined water treatment. Unlike conventional filter media that perform only mechanical or biological filtration separately, bioMECH's dirt-trapping pockets capture and retain large and small dirt particles, while at the same time the subtly designed pore structure provides colonisation for the purification bacteria — ensuring reliable biological decomposition.

The result is a single filter media that delivers two stages of water purification simultaneously — making it an exceptional choice for large external canister filters, sump systems, and aquariums where maximum filtration efficiency is required.

The material is pH-neutral and does not contain water hardeners. Eheim bioMECH is suitable for fresh and marine water, and is washable and reusable many times.

The 5L pack (3400g) is the largest size in the bioMECH range — ideal for large filter systems, multiple filter chambers, or aquarium keepers who want to fully stock a large filter basket with premium dual-action media.

Key Features

• Dual mechanical and biological filtration: Dirt-trapping pockets capture coarse and fine particles mechanically, while the optimised pore structure simultaneously supports biological decomposition by beneficial bacteria
• Ideal for large filter systems: The 5L volume is suited to large external canister filters, sump systems, pond filters, and multi-basket filter setups
• pH-neutral: Does not contain water hardeners — will not affect water chemistry or pH
• Reusable multiple times: Washable — rinse carefully to preserve bacterial cultures rather than destroying them completely
• Suitable for freshwater and marine aquariums: Compatible with all aquarium water types
• Manufactured by Eheim: Produced in-house to Eheim's quality standards
• 5L pack: Weight 3400g — best value per litre in the bioMECH range
