Seachem Discus Buffer

Recreate the soft, acidic water that discus thrive in with Seachem Discus Buffer. It's designed to replicate the ideal discus environment of low pH and low GH (general hardness). Discus Buffer lowers pH and keeps it lowered, adjusting it to between 5.8 and 6.8.

As well as lowering pH, Discus Buffer softens water by precipitating calcium and magnesium, helping to match the natural conditions discus and other soft-water fish come from. For a complete discus care routine, pair it with Seachem Discus Trace to restore trace elements, and a quality discus food such as Seachem NutriDiet Discus Flakes.

Discus Buffer can also be used with Seachem Neutral Regulator to target a specific pH when doing water changes or topping up. It contains phosphate buffers and conditioning agents, and is safe for all freshwater fish acclimated to an acidic pH. Available in 50g, 250g, 500g, 1kg and 4kg sizes.

Product Specifications

How to Use

1. Test your aquarium pH before dosing.
2. Add 1 level teaspoon (5 g) for every 40–80 litres daily until you reach your target pH.
3. Once your target pH is reached, use once a month or with water changes as needed to maintain it.
4. To raise pH, use Seachem Neutral Regulator.
5. Dechlorinate tap water with a water conditioner before doing water changes.
